Bypasses Gateway Restrictions: Modern FCA vehicles use a Security Gateway Module that restricts aftermarket scan tools (such as the LAUNCH X431) from performing bi-directional controls, active tests, clearing codes, or programming.
Plugging in this adapter allows your diagnostic tool to execute complete system diagnostics, calibrations, and service functions.
Locate the SGW Module: Find the vehicle’s Security Gateway Module (commonly located near the passenger-side kick panel, behind the glove box, or near the radio).
Disconnect Factory Plugs: Unplug the 12-pin and 8-pin connectors attached to the vehicle’s SGW module.
Plug in the Adapter: Connect the Launch 12+8 cable directly into those unplugged factory 12-pin and 8-pin connectors.
Connect the Scanner: Attach the standard OBD2 end of the cable to your Launch diagnostic scanner and begin testing.
